This release pairs the source at
2bd3d760fef540addfcbb4f8002ef7b283d8000f with the complete standard
Stage 12 generated-artifact graph in assets.generated.v12.tar.xz. The bundle
was rendered on a Framework Desktop with make assets-resilient and is
published as a static release asset rather than Git history.

What changed since v20260806
- Resources Stage 12 expands the catalogue to 14 independent products and 84 six-projection maps. Energy adds wind, nuclear, and petroleum-refinery throughput; fauna adds fisheries production and an actual WRI coral-reef threat field; human resources add population 60+, two education-attainment products, and resident patent applications per million beside population under 30.
- Default Anthropocene generation now produces both the 2025 and 2026 NOAA CPC
temperature fields. The earlier source-separated observation atlas remains
available through explicit
generate-anthropocene-atlas*targets. make authorize-externalverifies the local authorization boundary for optional JAXA P-Tree, NASA FIRMS, and licensed network-topology passes without accepting provider terms or generating an artifact.- The new Cahill-Keyes snapshot documents every standard pass with 28 real 480-pixel-wide thumbnails linked to the full layered SVGs.
- Star-X Natural Earth compositing paints transformed Antarctic land, coastline, and ice-shelf fragments after ordinary quadrant paths, preventing the unified cap from being clipped by later features.
- The release path now preserves the 480-pixel thumbnail contract when
assets-singleorassets-resilientforwards the 3840-pixel full-size PNG setting. The earlierv20260806announcement also no longer repeats its title inside its notes body.
The source range contains six commits and changes 32 files relative to
v20260806. The Stage 12 overview, resource implementation notes, external
authorization boundary, generation guide, and Cahill-Keyes snapshot in the
repository provide the detailed data and interpretation contracts.
Static-asset inventory
The archive carries 187 standard product stems. Every stem has a layered SVG, a single-page PDF, and an opaque 8-bit sRGB PNG whose longest side is 3840 pixels. The 84 resource products also include a deterministic gzip copy of their SVG. The snapshot adds 28 derived 480-by-240 PNG previews; these are not additional projection passes.
| Payload class | Files | Bytes | Largest member |
|---|---|---|---|
| Layered SVG | 187 | 1,530,511,435 | bathymetry-roulette-star-x-34-44.svg, 118,097,662 bytes |
| Resource SVG gzip | 84 | 34,798,034 | resources-fauna-coral-reef-threat-2011-myriahedral-44-24.75.svg.gz, 990,257 bytes |
| Single-page PDF | 187 | 567,476,883 | bathymetry-roulette-star-x-34-44.pdf, 66,140,057 bytes |
| Opaque 4K-long-side PNG | 187 | 188,872,394 | water-authagraph-44-19.052559.png, 4,530,173 bytes |
| Cahill-Keyes thumbnail PNG | 28 | 1,129,282 | water-ck-44-22.png, 117,372 bytes |
| Total | 673 | 2,322,788,028 |
The 187 standard products comprise:
| Family | Product stems |
|---|---|
| Geometry | 6 |
| Graticules | 6 |
| Earth, including 12 Cahill-Keyes slices | 18 |
| Water, including five Myriahedral perspectives and two face-group slices | 13 |
| Astronomy | 12 |
| Orbital Technosphere | 12 |
| Resources Stage 12 | 84 |
| Anthropocene observations | 6 |
| Anthropocene temperature | 12 |
| Network swarm | 6 |
| Network-infrastructure sites | 6 |
| Bathymetry Roulette | 6 |
| Total | 187 |
Cloud-atmosphere products are source-timed, credentialed opt-ins and are not
in this standard bundle. TeleGeography submarine-cable and Internet-exchange
topology products are separately licensed opt-ins and are also excluded. The
release tag supplies source and documentation; the static bundle supplies only
assets.generated/. WebAssembly .mjs and .wasm build outputs must be built
from the tagged source when needed.
Hardware requirements and render host
Downloading and viewing the archive does not require the render workstation. Any platform with XZ and tar support can verify or extract it. Keep at least 4 GB free when retaining both the 928 MB download and the 2.323 GB extracted payload; additional headroom is useful when verifying or replacing an existing generated tree. Viewing an individual PNG has ordinary desktop requirements. Editing the largest SVG or PDF can require substantially more memory.
The release-qualified regeneration host was:
| Component | Recorded configuration |
|---|---|
| Machine | Framework Desktop |
| Processor/APU | AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 with Radeon 8060S |
| CPU topology | 16 physical cores, 32 hardware threads |
| CPU identity | AMD family 26, model 112, stepping 0; microcode 0xb700037 |
| Sampled CPU frequency | 2000 MHz reported by /proc/cpuinfo |
| Memory | 131,150,248 kB kernel-visible (about 125.1 GiB; 128 GB installed class) |
| Swap | 8,388,604 kB (8 GiB) |
| Render concurrency | ASSET_JOBS=2, followed by the target’s serial completion pass |
| Graphics | Integrated Radeon 8060S; no GPU acceleration is required |
The Radeon GPU and the CPU’s AVX2/AVX-512 features are provenance, not
requirements. The native build uses C++20 and does not enable -march=native.
No numeric minimum RAM below the reference host has been release-qualified.
Use a 128 GB-class host for release parity, or reduce concurrency with
make assets-single or make ASSET_JOBS=1 assets-resilient and document the
measured host.
The tagged docs/prerequisites.md
defines the authoritative software and pinned-input requirements.

xz --test assets.generated.v12.tar.xz
tar --list --file=assets.generated.v12.tar.xz | sed -n '1,20p'
tar --extract --xz --file=assets.generated.v12.tar.xz
Extract from the repository root to install the companion tree at
assets.generated/. Use a clean destination when preserving local generated
work; tar extraction can replace same-named files.
Release verification record
The supplied archive was inspected before release with the following results:
- its SHA-256 matches the manifest above and
xz --testpasses; - all 679 tar entries are under
assets.generated/, with 673 regular files, six directories, no duplicates, unsafe paths, links, or empty files; - all 187 SVGs parse as well-formed XML with large-document support;
- all 84
.svg.gzmembers pass gzip validation and expand byte-for-byte to their adjacent layered SVGs; - all 187 PDFs pass
pdfinfoand contain one page; - all 187 full-size PNGs decode as opaque 8-bit sRGB images with a 3840-pixel long side;
- all 28 Cahill-Keyes previews decode as opaque 8-bit sRGB 480-by-240 images, and the complete contact sheet was visually inspected;
- the archive was rebuilt only to correct the preview resolution and normalize its extraction root; all other rendered files are the transferred Framework Desktop payload; and
make checkpasses at2bd3d760fef540addfcbb4f8002ef7b283d8000f.
The archive is a rendered snapshot, not a claim of byte-for-byte package reproducibility across different GDAL, GEOS, Inkscape, font, tar, or XZ versions. Semantic and licensing boundaries documented by each generator and data source still apply to the released images.
Public extracted-tree mirror
The generated tree is also published for direct browser use beneath the
immutable Berkeley S3 prefix cartofreako/v12/. The mirror contains the whole
rendered dataset in a 589-file delivery tree, the original XZ recovery package,
a same-origin SVG viewer, a stored-byte SHA-256 manifest, a release README, and
a last-written release.json completion marker. The grid embeds the 28
existing PNG thumbnails. All 187 full SVGs are published only as explicit
.svg.gz objects; selecting a thumbnail opens the viewer, which streams and
decompresses the selected SVG in the browser.
See the S3 v12 publication notes for object layout, exact public base URL, content metadata, credential handling, immutable upload guards, and verification procedure. Those notes also record the generated Devastation Pacific Active Archive report, its PDF verification and digest, and successful Gmail delivery to the two requested recipients.
